Twisted to your own destruction

There's not one person who can deny that different things are being taught in the religious world. Some say you have to be baptized. Some say you don't. Some say you're "once saved, always saved". Some say you're not.

Religions even teach different things on what it means to teach different things. Some say every body is right and that you should join the church of your choice. They teach as long as you are trying it's good enough.

As always, we pose the question. What does the Bible teach?

It's very interesting to see what Peter says about some of Paul's writings.

2 Pet 3:16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

Note that some of Paul's writings are hard. Some people misunderstand and misapply them and twist them to their own destruction. But wait, there's more!! They not only do it with Paul's writings, they do it with the rest of the scriptures!!

Do not be deceived. There are false teachers. There are false doctrines. Someone can even use the Bible, but misapply it and teach a false doctrine. If believed and followed this doctrine will lead to your destruction.

So be sober Bible reader. Your salvation is in your own hands. Don't trust everyone who reads to you from the Bible. Pick up your Bible. Study it and make sure they are rightly dividing the scriptures. We can all learn a lesson from the Bereans.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

These people did not have just any teacher. They had the apostle Paul and Silas in their midst. Yet they still searched the scriptures to see if they were being taught the truth. We implore you to do the same thing.
